Project 1 Directions
Your general project objective is to create a large watercolor painting that meets the following criteria:
1. demonstrates skill in lightening and darkening colors
2. includes a graduated wash or gradient within some area of the composition
3. includes a wet-in-wet technique within some area of the composition
4. demonstrates skill in watercolor shading
5. meets the requirements of one of the project's art theme options
6. will be of a complex enough idea and layout to consume 7 to 8 class periods (80 minutes each class period/10.5 hours of
work will be devoted to this work from the idea and skill improvement stage to the reflection writing and artist statement
essay)
7. demonstrates skill in pre-wetting the paper to prepare the paper for watercolor painting
8. demonstrates ability to completely fill up the composition (good use of artistic space)
9. complete essential art skills #1 thru #3 BEFORE you begin your work (Skill #4 is a Mid-point Eval) and (Skill #5 is a Reflection)
